Office News
Marchelle’s last day with us is tomorrow, August 1st. Marchelle has been an integral part of GHT, and her dedication to the health and well-being of our patients and families has made a lasting impact. Thank you, Marchelle!
August is National Immunization Awareness Month
Vaccines help protect your child from preventable diseases, such as measles, whooping cough, and meningitis, especially in shared spaces like schools and daycare centers. Check with us to ensure your child is up to date on all required and recommended vaccines, including Tdap, MMR, and HPV.
How to Plan a Healthy Lunchbox
Healthy lunchboxes create the midday nourishment for your learning, growing kiddos. Packing a nutritious lunch doesn’t have to be complicated! Here are some simple ideas:
- Swap chips for crunchy carrots and hummus
- Include lean proteins like turkey roll-ups, tuna, or beans
- Pack a variety of colorful foods
- Don’t forget fresh fruit and veggies
- Encourage drinking plenty of water
Pack lunch with your child to encourage them to actually eat it. And remember to limit sugary drinks and snacks (and the subsequent crash)!
Ease Back-To-School Jitters
New transitions can bring big emotions. Help ease your child’s anxiety with these tools:
- Set up a loose routine two weeks before school starts
- Visit the school or classroom, if possible
- Let your child help choose school supplies
- Allow them space to talk about their feelings
- Designate a good homework place
- Lead by example. Model the behaviors you’d like to cultivate in your little one.
It’s National Breastfeeding Month
We support all the ways families feed their babies. Breastfeeding offers numerous benefits, including immune support and enhanced bonding. Whether you’re nursing, pumping, combo-feeding, or weaning, we’re here for support!
Children’s Eye Health & Safety Month
Did you know vision issues can sometimes look like learning difficulties? Regular eye exams are crucial, especially before the start of school. Your pediatric provider can help you identify signs of strain or recommend a pediatric optometrist for further evaluation.
Watch for:
- Squinting
- Eye rubbing
- Complaints of headaches
- Trouble focusing on homework
As always, contact us at (562) 473-4441 with your questions or concerns. We’re here for you!
Sincerely,
Your Team at GHT
