Happy Fall & Spooky Halloween from Your Care Team at Growing Healthy Together!
Vision, Hearing, and Dental Health Checks
Routine screenings are crucial for detecting issues early and promoting healthy development.
What to watch for at home:
- Vision: Squinting, tilting the head, or complaints of headaches
- Hearing: Difficulty following directions, turning the ear toward sounds, or asking for repetition
- Dental: Tooth pain, sensitivity, or changes in biting or chewing
Well-child visits are more frequent for younger children and annual for children three and older. See the Bright Futures periodicity_schedule for more information.
October is Health Literacy Month
This month, we encourage parents to feel confident in asking questions about their child’s health:
- Bring a list of concerns and medications to visits.
- Ask for clarification if something is unclear.
- Take note of signs and symptoms by logging in an app or a notebook
- Use trusted resources for guidance:
- Holistic Care Blog
- American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and Healthy Children
- For California residents, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH)
- Reach out to your provider with questions and concerns.
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
This month, we honor everyone affected by breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a reminder to show support, offer care, and celebrate the strength of those in our families and communities who face this challenge.
